Dads don’t need another tool, tie or pair of cuff links. Two years ago, I took a picture of my monkeys with a message on their feet and it’s by far my favourite Fathers’ Day gift to celebrate their daddy.
With a little bit of photo editing and a pretty frame, this image captures everything I hoped it would including those delicious little feet! There are lots of text options depending on the number of tootsies you have in your house: 2 feet – ♥ U , 4 feet – DAD♥ [or] LOVE , 6 feet – DADDY♥ [or] WE ♥ YOU [or] OUR DAD
If you’re wondering about how to edit your pictures, I have two options for you. Here is the original picture I took of the kids. You’ll see that the lighting is horrible, the exposure is poor and it’s off kilter:
I’m a big fan of Gimp which is very similar to Photoshop. It’s free to download and can do just about anything you need, but it does take some time to learn. After some minor editing, this is what it looks like after using the software:
However, if you want something quick and effective, Ribbet is an amazing online editor. I signed up for their free account, uploaded the original and played with the settings on the left (rotate, crop, exposure, colour). Within 5 minutes I created pretty much the same image as I’d done with my full image editing software. Impressive!
Print the picture at your local copy and print centre and you’re all set!
You could do variations on this idea from year to year to capture how the kids are changing. I really love the idea of a series of pictures like these in a hallway, stairwell or office. They don’t stay small for long, do they?
Happy Fathers’ Day!
